In bridge construction, it is often used as cofferdam at the top of open caisson, which is widely used. Cofferdams for pipe column foundation, pile foundation and open cut foundation.

These cofferdams are mostly of single wall closed type. There are longitudinal and transverse supports in the cofferdams. If necessary, diagonal supports are added to form a cofferdam. For example, the steel sheet pile circular cofferdam was used for the pipe column foundation of the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge in China, with a diameter of 21.9m and a length of 36m. There are various sizes and interlocking forms. When the underwater concrete bottom sealing meets the strength requirements, pump water to build the cushion cap and pier shaft, and the design depth of pumping water is 20m.

In hydraulic buildings, the construction area is generally large, so it is often used to make structural cofferdams.
